What is Advent?
Advent covers the four Sundays before Christmas. It is a season of hopeful waiting, looking back to the birth of Jesus and forward to his return.
Many mark the weeks with an Advent wreath, lighting one more candle each Sunday until Christmas.
How to keep Advent
Advent is a quieter counterpart to the busy run-up to Christmas. A daily prayer or Scripture reading, an Advent calendar, and small acts of kindness help keep the season focused.
The aim is to arrive at Christmas ready rather than worn out.
